Mondrian Park Avenue

I don’t think I have stayed at a Philippe Starck designed property in the past though I have visited many including the Paramount Hotel Times Square. However, it has been a while since I stayed on Park Avenue and NoMad. The last time I was in the neighborhood was when the Redbury used to be the Martha Washington. Park Avenue has a charm which makes it differ from other neighborhoods in New York. NoMad is a great neighborhood for those looking for great upscale bars, restaurants, hotels and interior design shops. For those who need a hotel near Macy’s, The Empire State Building, Bryant Park and Penn Station – this is the hotel to stay at.

The Mondrian Park Avenue feels like a ‘real’ boutique hotel – the entrance and lobby isn’t massive yet has a presence and style which make it stand apart. Art and sculptures are at the heart of the property and the New York inspired statement piece by Ara Starck, which adorns the marble-splashed foyer and check-in desk is definitely stunning!

The rooms are modern, slick and cosy – I was lucky to have a great view of Park Avenue and 29th Street. The service at the hotel is friendly and I absolutely loved the chauffeur driven car provided by the hotel on a complimentary basis (based on availability) covering a certain distance which is very handy because someone like me can never leave on time.

I always feel the crowd in this neighborhood is very different to the rest of the neighborhoods I have stayed in New York. For instance, it feels more corporate in the mornings and very scenic in the evenings. It is easy getting to places as the location is very central and close to key subway lines.
